Metro Vancouver wants to spend more than $500 million of our hard earned money to burn just 18% of the waste. We don’t think this is good value for money.
Metro Vancouver’s families are proud of our recycling industry and the region’s reputation as a leader on waste diversion. They have worked hard to teach their children about the value of recycling and want Metro Van to stick to its commitment of becoming “zero waste.”
Yet Metro Vancouver politicians want to burn this progress with Bylaw 280. It will give them control of all waste and recycling in Metro Vancouver, and the means to raise the estimated $500 million from residents and businesses needed to build a second incinerator to burn materials that could be recycled.
Bylaw 280 will hurt the growth of our recycling industry, raise the cost of living, and create more pollution with a new incinerator.
The Provincial government can still stop Bylaw 280. You can ask Environment Minister Mary Polak to stand up for Metro Van’s values. Click here to tell her that you want to keep Metro Vancouver recycling.
